Candidates’ Weaknesses

Some candidates exhibited hazy knowledge of the prescribed texts. This was reflected in their answers which lacked in-depth knowledge of the texts with poor language skills.

Suggested Remedies

(1)       Well stocked libraries should be made available in schools, homes and public centers to help candidates develop a reading culture.

(2)       Candidates should be discouraged from relying only on short notes and summary for study purposes.

(3)       Candidates should learn the basic facts and literary aspects of prescribed texts so as to achieve the educational objectives of Literature-in-English as a subject.
