The following weaknesses were identified in candidates' performance:
(1) inadequate preparation towards the examinations;
(2) candidates' misconception;
(3) non-adherence to rubrics;
(4) lack of qualified teachers.
The identified weaknesses above could be ameliorated if
(i) candidates would study the syllabus and get the necessary materials required for preparation early enough before the examinations.
(ii) candidates would study beyond their peripheral knowledge of musical lines and spaces as learnt in the choir or their ability to sing or vamp on the piano.
(iii) candidates would adhere strictly to the rubrics in the paper.
(iv) Government would employ qualified teachers who are competent to teach Music at the Senior Secondary School level. .
