The following weaknesses were perceptible among the candidates:
- Inadequate preparation
This problem manifested in the responses of many candidates to questions, which were disjointed and uncoordinated in many cases. Such responses could only have been caused by inadequate preparation.
- Deviation from the requirements of questions
Candidates disobeyed the requirements of the questions. For example in question 5, candidates failed to focus on the required points and defiantly wrote lengthy essays on irrelevant biographies of the black musicians. In many cases, candidates answered more questions than required
SUGGESTED REMEDY
The panacea to these inadequacies is simply for candidates to ensure that they prepare adequately for examination by reading relevant textbooks and consulting competent professionals.
