GENERAL COMMENTS ON THE PAPER AS A WHOLE
The papers (alternative A and B) compared favourably with those of previous years in terms of standard and coverage of the syllabus. The questions were syllabic and well framed in simple comprehensible language.
The rubric were quite clear and in simple language. The marking schemes were adequate. The various domains of assessment were adequately covered. This include candidates ability to:
- set-up simple experiment
- carry out the experimental procedure
- analyze data
- make necessary deductions from the experiments
- show understanding of the theories behind the experiments.
The candidates’ raw mean score of 24 with a standard deviation of 10.00 indicates a nearly same performance with that in the May/June 2013 WASSCE when a raw mean score of 24 and a standard deviation of 8.89 was recorded.
