Some of the weaknesses observed in the candidates’ scripts included:
- poor spelling and wrong use of words
- wrong placement of Shorthand outlines which made it difficult for them to transcribe what they had written.
-
writing of dictated passages in longhand instead of Shorthand.
(B) SUGGESTED REMEDIES
- The candidates should concentrate more on drilling, with the use of short forms, phrases and contractions in shorthand so as to improve their speed.
- Theory of shorthand should be taught and learnt so as to improve on correct placement outlines.
