The strength of the candidates highlighted above notwithstanding, some candidates were reported not to have mastered the use of some drawing instruments effectively. Some failed also to visualize the given objects correctly before attempting to answer the questions. Other areas of weaknesses reported upon were their inability to:
- project lines correctly;
- locate centres of curves;
- maintain the lowest point in the drawing of isometric views of an object;
- draw isometric curves where required;
- take dimensions correctly.
Candidates are therefore advised to:
- practice drawing regularly with the use of appropriate instruments;
- practice visualizing objects before drawing them;
- learn how to project lines correctly;
- discover different methods of locating centres of curves;
- practice isometric drawing with the lowest point in sight;
- ensure that every circular part in isometric view is drawn appropriately as an ellipse;
- take dimensions correctly and carefully.
