This was a popular question among the candidates. However some of
them misinterpreted question (a) with Mbari Mbayo of Oshogbo rather
than Mbari House of Igbo land (Southern part of Imo and Northern part of
Rivers State).
Most candidates were also unable to write on Bundu Mask (b). They only
mentioned that the mask is produced by the people of Sierra Leone and
that the mask is used by the females for initiation ceremony. Whereas,
those that wrote on Anshanti Golden Stool (c) had very scanty facts.
They only stated that the stool is made in Ghana, covered with gold, and
that it is the symbol of the king's authority. To score high marks,
they were expected to write, among others that:
- Ashanti stool was a mass of solid gold;
- Bells made of copper, brass and gold were attached to it;
- It is a sacred object of the Ashanti;
- it is a symbol of authority of the Ashanti King.
- Most of the candidates did not write on Kponinugo Mask (d). Maybe, because they were not familiar with the question. |
