Candidates Weakness
|
Most of the candidates lacked enough exposure to some societal issues like the environment, dignitaries and stars (celebrities) in their immediate environment. Some of the candidates do not know the names of their President or State Governors.
Most of them were weak in the use, positioning and placement of accents, negation and pronouns in sentences. They believed that words could be placed anywhere in the sentence. This was apparent in their essay writing in Section A. Some of them lacked sufficient and adequate vocabulary and could hardly write anything meaningful.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES
To improve on candidates performance, teachers of French should be more explicit in the teaching of the basic grammatical rules at each lesson. Candidates should be encouraged to get more involved/exposed to issues that affect their society. The teachers should encourage the students to read French novels, journals and magazines to improve their performance. |
