| 1. Draw a sketch map of Nigeria.
On the map, show and name:
(a) One area important for cattle rearing;
(b) One town in any of the areas shown in 6 a(i) above.
2. Explain four factors which encourage cattle rearing in Northern Nigeria.
3. Highlight three reasons why cattle rearing is less important in southern Nigeria.

This was an unpopular question among the candidates. Those who answered the question performed poorly because of map work. They were also unable to highlight reasons for which cattle rearing was less important in Southern Nigeria like:
- foot rot disease of cattle in the heavy rainy south;
- poor quality pasture;
- conflict of cattle rearers with crop farmers;
- limited pasture;
- presence of tse tse flies which cause sleeping sickness;
- southerners are mainly crop cultivators;
- dense vegetation in the south hinders free movement of cattle. |
