Candidates' Weakness

Candidates’ weaknesses were observed as follow:

• Expression in simple and clear language;
• Differentiate between the following with the aid of a well labelled diagram: bishop sleeve and puff sleeve; gored skirt and panelled skirt;
• Differentiate between tucks and box pleats;
• State differences between easing and shirring;
• Explain why cotton and linen fabrics are given crease resistance finish.

To overcome these weaknesses,

• Teachers should always practicalize whatever topic taught so that students will be able to understand better and participate;
• Candidates should learn the terminologies of clothing and textiles;
• Candidates should be made to produce sample articles on each topic taught.
• Candidates should always practice how to sketch or draw in clothing practical class.
