Health Education Paper 2 WASSCE (PC 2ND), 2021

Weakness and Remedies

The observed weaknesses of the candidates include:

  • illegible handwriting;
  • inability to correctly name the parts of the diagram in question 6(d)(i);
  • poor spellings of technical terms;
  • inability to correctly answer labelled parts of diagrams.

The following remedies were suggested to overcome these weaknesses:

Candidates should:

  • cover the syllabus before sitting the examinations;
  • attend coaching lessons to learn more;
  • study past questions and Chief Examiner’s Report;
  • improve on their spelling of technical terms;
  • study often and prepare ahead of exams;
  • read textbooks that have enough description of topics rather than key points;
  • study questions properly before attempting them;
  • pay attention to rubrics and instructions;
  • study and label diagrams.

The teachers should:

  • engage the use of WAEC syllabus in teaching the subject;
  • attend WAEC coordination and marking exercises often;
  • ensure that diagrams and correct labelling are taught in classes;
  • teach the correct way of spelling technical and scientific words.
