Question 1
(1) The following materials were supplied:
(a) one piece of mild steel plate 360 mm x 160 mm x 3 mm;
(b) one tie-on label.
The diagrams below show parts, views and the assembly of a machine support.
Fabricate the machine support using the materials supplied.
Observation
This was the only question and candidates were required to attempt it within the stipulated time. Most of the candidates performed very well in cutting the parts and in finishing the edges. However, the intermittent welding of parts was poorly done.
