Observation
This question was very popular among the candidates. In 6(a-c), most of the candidates were able to list the qualities of a good agricultural extension agent, state the advantages and disadvantages of individual and group methods of agricultural extension teaching methods as well as explain forest regulations. Finally, majority of the candidates could not state the precautionary measures that should be taken in beekeeping as required in 6(d).
6.(d) Precautionary measures that should be taken in beekeeping
- Do not wear perfume into the apiary
- Beehives/apiary should be located far away from human dwellings
- Warning symbols should be put in front of apiaries
- Do not enter the apiary without wearing protective clothing (e.g. bee suit, jungle boot, bee veil, bee goggles, bee hat, hand gloves)
- There should be restrictions on the movement of persons in and around the apiary
-Do not wear perfume into the apiary
- Avoid dark coloured clothing in apiaries
- Avoid noise making in and around apiaries
- Avoid visiting apiary during the hottest period of the day
