CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES
Majority of the candidates were unable to:
- mention the ways government can prevent farmers from selling their produce at farm gate prices;
- name the implements used for various farm operations;
- outline problems associated with the use of farm machinery;
- give reasons why irrigation is necessary in West Africa;
- state the differences between surface irrigation and use of sprinklers;
- explain terms in forest management;
- state the advantages of artificial incubation of eggs;
- prepare the profit and loss account for Goodwill Farms;
- spell technical terms correctly;
- write legibly;
Based on the observed weaknesses the Chief Examiners recommended as follows:
- Adequate coverage of the syllabus.
- The acquisition of practical skills in the subject through field visits, excursion;
- Exposure of candidates to technical terms used in Agriculture;
- Candidates should write legibly and concisely.
