Candidates’ inability to obtain and record accurate readings translated into their undoing due to lack of understanding/lack of the good measuring instruments involved in the tasks. Some candidates were given torch batteries instead of regulated power supply as power source. Many of the candidates also performed the experiments in groups due to lack of enough apparatus while some candidates resulted to calculating the readings manually. It was reported that some candidates had some issues plotting graphs.

(b)        Suggested Remedies

It was suggested that to remedy this weakness:

• the schools should provide enough instruments for the subject and put the candidates through their use before examination;
• teachers should teach candidates how to plot graphs from a set of readings;
• teachers should provide constant opportunities for students to engage in practical works in the laboratory/workshop.
