Question 2
AIM: To verify Kirchhoff’s voltage law.
- Connect the circuit as shown in Fig. 2.
- Ask the supervisor to check the circuit connection.
- You are provided with Table 3.
- Adjust V1 to 12 V and V2 to 6 V.
- Close switches S1 and S2.
- Read and record in Table 3 the ammeter readings I1, I2 and I3.
- Open switches S1 and S2.
- Compare I1 (mA) with (I2 + I3) (mA).
Observation
The expected responses were:
TABLE 3
Current (mA) |
Value (mA) |
I1 (A1) |
8.75 |
I2 (A2) |
7.89 |
I3 (A3) |
0.86 |
- Correct reading of Value (mA)
- I1 is equal to the sum of I2 and I3.
I1 = I2 + I3.
OR
Any other reasonable comparison.
- Correct circuit connection
The question required candidates to use the provided apparatus to set up a circuit to verify Kirchhoff’s current law. The observations made for this question is similar to that of question one. Candidates did not perform so well in answering the question.
