Candidate's Weakness
The following weaknesses were shown in the candidates’ work:
- Over confidence on the part of some Candidates;
- Commission of grammatical mistakes;
- Writing irrelevancies;
- Display of shallow knowledge of the texts;
- Inadvertent violation of rubrics;
- Misinterpretation of questions.
Suggested Remedies
To address the observed weaknesses, the Chief Examiners recommended the following:
- Candidates must try as much as possible to read widely and prepare thoroughly for the examination.
- Candidates should be encouraged to read the instruction very well so as to adequately understand the demands of the questions before attempting them.
- Teachers should endeavour to teach the candidates how to answer questions in a logical and clear manner.
- Candidates should learn and master the correct spellings of the vocabulary.
- Conscious efforts should be made by candidates to write legibly in Arabic.
- Candidates should procure the prescribed texts for Arabic Literature.
- Qualified teachers should teach the subject so as to adequately impart the required knowledge to the students.
