Candidate's Weakness
The weaknesses of candidates were observed in the following areas:
- Commission of grammatical mistakes;
- Misinterpretation of the questions;
- Writing lesser than required number of the words in Essay/Composition;
- Writing of irrelevancies;
- Illegible handwriting;
- Display of shallow knowledge of the set texts;
- Inadvertent violation of rubrics.
Suggested Remedies
To address the reported weaknesses, the Chief Examiners recommended the following:
- Candidates should be encouraged to thoroughly read and understand the questions before attempting them;
- Provision of the qualified teachers to teach Arabic ;
- Candidates must read the instructions so as to adequately understand the demand of the questions before attempting them;
- Candidates should endeavour to answer questions in a logical and clear manner;
- Conscious efforts should be made by candidates to write legibly in Arabic;
- Candidates should learn and master the correct spellings of the vocabulary;
- Candidates should procure the prescribed texts for Arabic literature.
