Candidates' Weakness

The candidates, however, could not adequately answer the questions asked on:
- identifying multi-hole injector;
- the type of injection system used on a shown engine;
- the reason behind the shape of the shown combustion chamber;
- how the external relief valve of automobile operates;
- the purpose of varying the length of wishbone arm;
- what happens in automobile relief valve during engine idling speed and during high engine speed;
- how the opening of the strangler of a simple carburettor strangler valve is controlled;
- how depression takes place in the air tube of the strangler valve of a simple carburettor;
- why it is necessary to make the lead cable from coil distributor thicker than other cables in automobile ignition system.

Suggested Remedies

Candidates were urged to study the basic principles and reasons behind some practices associated with and not limited to combustion chamber, wishbone length variation, automobile carburettor and ignition system. Teachers were also advised not to skip any part of the syllabus in grooming the students for the examination.
