- (a) Candidates’ Weaknesses
According to the report, the major weaknesses were:
- the use of inappropriate terms in the context of subject;
- inability to solve application problems;
- poor interpretation and analysis of fact;
- poor understanding of charging system and starting system.
(b) Suggested Remedies
To correct these weaknesses, it was suggested that:
- efforts should be made to familiarize candidates with essential terminologies during teaching and learning processes;
- candidates should familiarize self with use of facts to solve application problems;
- candidates should be exposed to context-based questions more often in the classroom.
- teachers should endeavour to expose candidates more to practical activities, laying emphasis on the charging and starting system.
