(a) Storage is the holding and housing of goods in inventory until they are released to consumers.
(b) Process of storage includes:
- receipt of goods from the transporter/supplier;
- cross check physical goods with local purchase order (L.P.O.)
- classify the received goods according to the materials.
- classify the received products according to grades, types and sizes;
- enter the goods into store register according to their types;
- enter the goods into bin card according to shapes, types and sizes;
- clear gang ways;
- arrange the goods and bin cards on the racks to ensure ease of retrieval;
- take necessary precautionary measures, depending on the nature of the goods, to
ensure their safety.
