CANDIDATES' WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES
The observed weaknesses of the candidates this year include:
- starting taxonomical names with small letter;
- illegible handwriting;
- ability to answer recall questions that involved name, state;
- poor spelling of one-word and technicalterms;
- failure to identify singular and plural labels;
- inability to state structure and function for adaptation questions;
- inability to name the adult stage of the organism in diagrams C and D;
- inability to state the function of some parts labelled on the flower;
The following remedies were proffered to overcome the weaknesses
Candidates should:
- cover the syllabus before sitting the examinations;
- take the examination only after the completion of the senior secondary school;
- attend coaching lessons to learn more;
- study past questions and Chief Examiner’s Report;
- improve on their spelling of technical terms;
- study often and prepare ahead of exams;
- read textbooks that have enough description of topics rather than Biology key points;
- study questions properly before answering them.
