THE FIRST CREATION STORY (GENESIS 1: 1-31)
Observation
This question was popular among candidates. Candidates did not have problem answering this question as they performed optimally in it especially in part b where candidates were able to state reasons why man is the crown of all creatures. In part a however, some candidates failed to present the chronological order of the creation story as the question demanded. Outline of the expected points are;
- In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
- The earth was without form and void and darkness engulfed it.
- The Spirit of God moved over the face of the waters.
- On the first day, light was created and was separated from darkness to form day and night.
- On the second day, the firmament/heavens were created.
- On the third day, land, sea and vegetation were created.
- God created the heavenly bodies (Sun, Moon and Stars) on the fourth day.
- . On the fifth day, sea animals and birds were created.
- . God finally created land animals on the sixth day.
- Subsequently, God created man in His own image and likeness and gave him dominion over all creatures.
- On the seventh day, God rested, and made it Holy.
