QUESTION 1:       HOW THE ISRAELITES CROSSED THE RED SEA. EXODUS 14

Observation

This question was popular among candidates. Candidates did not have problem answering this question as they performed optimally in it especially in part b where candidates were able to state the lesson learnt during the crossing of the red sea like believing and having faith in God, God being with us at all times, the need to be patient and prayerful during trying times etc. In part b however, the weakness of candidates is attributed to some candidates failing to present the sequence of the events that happened during the crossing of the red sea and the events that happen. Outline of the expected points from candidates are listed below;

.HOW THE ISRAELITES CROSSED THE RED SEA.

    1. After the ten plagues, Pharaoh allowed the Israelites to leave Egypt for the wilderness to worship their God.
    2. Later, when Pharaoh realized that the Israelites had left for good, he regretted for allowing them to go.
    3. The Israelites were guarded by the Lord by a pillar of cloud during the day and pillar of fire by night.
    4. Pharaoh quickly organized his soldiers and chariots to chase the Israelites with the hope of bringing them back.
    5. They caught up with them at Pihahiroth where they had encamped in front of the sea.
    6. When the Egyptians drew nearer, the Israelites became afraid and panicked, displaying lack of faith in God and Moses.
    7. They cried to the Lord and began to accuse Moses for bringing them into the wilderness to die.
    8. They said that they should have been left in Egypt to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness
    9. Moses told them not to entertain any fear but to stand firm for the Lord would fight for them
    10. Moses again said that in no time they would not see the Egyptians again.
    11. Moses then cried to God and he was told by God to stretch his rod over the sea.
    12. After that a great wind came and drove back the waters
    13. The Israelites passed through on dry land/ground
    14. The Egyptians gave them a hot chase, but the wheels of their chariots could not move
    15. Moses immediately stretched his rod over the sea and the waters returned leading to the drowning of the Egyptians.
    16. The people then came to believe in Yahweh and in Moses His servant.
