CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES
The weaknesses associated with the candidates’ performance include:
- inability to use concordant values to calculate the average volume of acid used
- inability to determine the correct mole ratio from a reaction equation;
- inability to express the concentration in moldm-3 of solutions in 3 s.f.;
- poor knowledge of units;
- inability to write correct inferences to observations;
- non adherence to instructions.
The following remedies were however suggested:
- candidates should use concordant values to determine their average titres;
- learn how to deduce mole ratio from reaction equations;
- should express the concentration of solutions in 3 s.f.;
- understand the demands of the questions;;
- use correct units when required
