6(a) Functions of communication:
- Information: It is used to pass messages across businesses and individuals.

- Influence: It is used to influence performance or non performance of an action.
- Feedback function: This is carried out as a response to the information earlier sent out.
- It facilitates mail order business and E-commerce.
- It disseminates policies within an organization.
6(b) Types of communication.
- Visual communication: This form of communication involves display of information with the help of visual aids such as road signs, maps, posters, banners and neon signs.
- Written communication: This is a form of communication where the information is conveyed in writing through letters, memos, articles, emails etc. It could be hand written or typed.
- Oral/Verbal communication: This includes the use of speech to express the message or information to others. It could be personal or interpersonal.
- Non verbal communication: This refers to methods of passing messages without using words. It involves the use of signs and body gesture to convey messages such as folded arms, legs, shaking hands, facial expression to signify acceptance.
