WEAKNESS/REMEDIES

  1. Poor grammatical expression
  2. A good number of candidates scored low marks because they were unable to present their ideas properly on paper.  Most of the candidates lacked adequate language of expression.

  3. Failure to expatiate points
  4. Some of the candidates only listed points without providing detailed explanations.
This fact made it difficult for them to score the maximum marks for the questions attempted.

  5. Inability to interpret graphs

A good number of candidates could not interpret graphs.  This made it very difficult for them to provide adequate answers for question 2.  Consequently candidates lost good marks for this reason.

Suggested remedies for these weaknesses are as follows:

  1. Candidates should be encouraged to read relevant textbooks, novels, newspapers etc. to help improve on their grammatical skills.
  2. Candidates should avoid the mere listing of points.  They should be encouraged to go further by explaining their points in order to score    good marks.
  3. Candidates should be encouraged to practice the use of basic tools of economic analysis such as graphs, tables, charts etc. before the examination.
