Observation

The passage was quite interesting and offered familiar subject matter. Nevertheless, many candidates did not demonstrate an understanding of the passage. They resorted to lifting portions of the passage as answers.

It was also quite surprising that most candidates could not identify the figure of speech in Question 6(f). They also answered the questions on grammatical name and function very poorly.

The vocabulary test, Question 6(h) was poorly attempted by candidates. They failed to give the correct synonyms of the words.
