Candidates' response showed lack of mastery of the French gender. Most of them could
not differenciate between the masculine and feminine gender in French.
In Translation, candidates wrote meaningless translation. They translated the sentences
word for word.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES
To improve on candidates' performance, teachers of French should be more involved
in the teaching of the basic grammatical rules and the French genders at each lesson.
The teachers should encourage the students to read French novels, journals and
magazines to acquire more vocabulary.
