Candidate's Weakness

Most of the candidates could not handle topics related to the internet, sports, city life, and any topic outside the family and school. The questions under the Listening Comprehension posed a great challenge to the candidates as they require that candidates thoroughly understand the passage before they can get the correct answer.

Suggested Remedies

• Teachers of French should endeavour to practice all aspects of the Oral French with the students before the examination.

 

• Teachers should work more in teaching students’ pronunciation and lay emphasis on liaison where necessary.

 

• Teachers should teach French using the communicative approach.

 

• Students should be encouraged to have a lot of practice in both oral and written composition. They should also be encouraged to converse more in French within and outside the classroom.

 

• Students should be exposed to reading simple French stories, magazines and journals so as to acquire more vocabulary.
