Candidate's Weakness

Most of the candidates were unable to observe the compulsory liaison in the reading test.
It was observed that most candidates could not answer correctly the open-ended questions in the Listening Comprehension test.
Many of the candidates responded with memorised answers during the conversation test regardless of the question asked.

Suggested Remedies

• French teachers should make an effort to speak French to their students inside and outside of the classroom as well. In order to help their students develop their confidence, they should also encourage them to behave similarly both inside and outside of the classroom.
• Teachers should give every student an opportunity to read French aloud in the classroom.
• Simulated conversations should be used in the classroom to help students improve their conversational abilities.
• The evaluation process at school should include oral examination.
• Quizzes, debates and speech competitions should be held for French students to aid in vocabulary building and fluency development.
• To help students expand their vocabulary, teachers should also encourage them to read simple French novels, magazines, and journals.
