Weakness and Remedies.
Candidates were reported to show weaknesses in the following areas:
(1) many of the candidates did not mark the joints correctly;
(2) some of the candidates could not construct the prescribed joint within the given time;
(3) candidates’ project were not neatly processed before assembling them;
(4) some candidates did not write their details boldly as instructed on the work piece.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES FOR OVERCOMING THE WEAKNESSES
(1) Candidates should be taught how to neatly prepare pieces to required sizes;
(2) Candidates should be taught how to mark all the joints and shapes correctly before cutting or chiselling;
(3) Candidates should be taught to work as fast as possible to finish the project or get to a reasonable stage within a specific time;
(4) Candidates should be taught to work accurately and neatly;
(5) Candidates should not be provided with wet pieces of wood;
(6) Candidates should be provided with appropriate and well sharpened hand tools.
