Weakness and Remedies.

Candidates were reported to show weaknesses in the following areas:

 (1)       some of the candidates demonstrated poor handling of the basic hand tools;

(2)        some candidates’ work pieces were not neatly processed before assembling them;
(3)        some candidates did not write their details boldly as instructed on the work piece.

SUGGESTED REMEDIES FOR OVERCOMING THE WEAKNESSES

(1)        schools should ensure that candidates are given good, dried, and workable wood;
(2)        teachers/instructors should ensure candidates prepare the work piece in readiness for the examination;

(3)        candidates should be taught to work as fast as possible to finish the project or get to a reasonable stage within a specific time;

(4)        candidates should be taught how to work accurately and neatly;
(5)        candidates should be provided with appropriate and well-sharpened hand tools;
(7)        candidates should be taught how to carefully clean up projects after construction;
(8)        candidates should ensure that all necessary details are correctly and boldly written of the worked piece.
