Candidates' Weakness
The Chief Examiner reported that candidates’ responses indicated that majority of them were weak in the following areas:
- Failure to adhere to the rubrics of the questions/paper
 - Representing given information in an appropriate diagram
 - Application of the Laws of IndicesĀ
 - Investigating the range satisfying a given quadratic inequality
 - Permutation and Combination
 - Application of Binomial Expansion
 - Differentiation from first principle
 - Mechanics

      SUGGESTED  REMEDIES
    
 
The following remedies were suggested by the Chief Examiner:
- Candidates were encouraged to cover all the topics in the syllabus while preparing for the examination.
 - Teachers as well as candidates were encouraged to put in more effort in studying these observed weak areas.
 - Teachers were encouraged to use instructional materials during lesson so as to re-enforce the learning of mathematical concepts
 - Candidates were encouraged to read through each question carefully so as to understand its demands and adhere to the rubrics
 - Candidates were encouraged to avail themselves of past WASSCE Further Mathematics questions.
