The nth term of an Arithmetic Progression (A.P.) is given by Un = n2log 5. Find the sum of the first n terms of the Arithmetic Progression in terms of log 5.
Observation
The Chief Examiner reported that majority of the candidates that attempted this question were able to find the first and second terms, but could not find the sum as specified by the question, however, the marking scheme was corrected to accommodate the first and second terms as well as the common difference. They were able to find the first term U1 = log 5, U2 = 4log 5 and the common difference which is d = 4log 5 – log 5 = 3log 5
