Candidates Weakness

 

The candidates’ weaknesses were on questions 1(a) and 2 (b) and 4(b) Candidates seems to find analysis of some garment making technical terms difficult. this manifested in their inability to differentiate between some terms. in question 1 many of the candidates could not identify and write the correct answer/names of the different stitches or diagram  of the different types of sleeve labeled I, II, III,  IV, V, and VI drawn in question 1a. many of the candidates could not draw and label the sketches of a dress with princess line and this contributed to the poor performance of the candidates.
To overcome these weaknesses:

  • continuous emphasis on analytical questions for teacher to take cognizance of this level of educational objectives and thus teach students to make critical analysis of the garment making technical/practical terms.
  • teachers should teach clearly meaning, definition, types , functions and application of stitches and edge finishing.

 

  • teachers should endeavour to attend workshops and Seminars on Garment Making;
  • there should be uniformity in the scheme of work
