2. Identify three criticisms of the Greek system of climatic classification.

This was not a popular question among the candidates.  However, most of the candidates that attempted the question scored fairly high marks as they were able to describe the frigid, temperate and torrid climatic zones.  Some of the candidates could not identify the criticisms of the Greek system of climatic classification.  The criticisms are:

-              emphasizes only one parameter;
-              ignores other elements that make up the climate of an area;
-              did not quantify;
-              does not consider the influence of landforms on climate;
-              uses over generalization;
-              too simplified;
-              ignores the influence of latitude, presence of vegetation and wind system on climate;
-              did not identify humid and desert regions.
