This was a popular question among the candidates and the performance of most candidates who attempted the question was good. Some candidates could not outline advantages of low population distribution in some parts of West Africa. The expected answers included:
- Abundant resources: Since the people are few in such localities, they constitute an abundance of untapped resources which could be utilized in the near future.
- Ease of planning: With few people to take care of, it will be easier
for government to plan for the populace.
- Low environmental pollution: Since people in low population density areas are not much, then, the total quantity of waste generated is small and can be easily managed.
-Social cohesion: there is usually a strong degree of tie between people in low density areas than people in high density areas etc. |
