Observation
The question was popularly attempted by majority of the candidates. Their performance was very good except for those who merely listed the points rather than explaining them. The benefits of industrialization to a country include:
- contributes to the Gross National Product (GNP);
- employment generation;
- development of infrastructure/social amenities;
- promotes international trade;
- curbing rural-urban migration;
- development of towns;
- prestige in the committee of nations;
- foreign exchange earnings;
- income to operators;
- improvement in balance of trade;
- transfer of technology;
- funding of education and research;
- skill acquisition/manpower development;
- stimulation of other sectors;
- control of inflation;
- conservation of foreign exchange;
- provision of goods;
- growth of ancillary industries;
- diversification of the economy;
- revenue to government;
- improvement in the standard of living.
