CANDIDATES' WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES
The candidates’ weaknesses include their inability to
- understand the questions asked
- express themselves in simple English Language
- write correct spellings and scientific words
- draw and label diagrams correctly
- answer a question on a fresh page/new page
- state ways in which the working of the alimentary canal can be enhanced
- describe the process of protein absorption in the small intestine - explain the term pollution in relation to health education
- state reasons why humans take a lot of water when the weather is hot
- explain physical health and blood pressure as terms used in health education
- list injuries that could occur in the muscles of humans
- define the term homeostasis
- explain how the human body maintains a constant body temperature in a cold environment
- state food sources of iodine, deficiencies of iodine and function of fluorine in the human body
- state advantage of the methods of food preservation such a baking, frying, roasting and boiling
The following remedies were suggested to overcome these weaknesses:
- government should employ qualified English teachers
- students should be encouraged to improve on their reading habit
- students should read questions up to two or three times for proper understanding before answering questions
- teachers should pay more attention to drawing of diagrams and labelling of diagrams parts through thorough supervision of students
- handwriting in schools should be given priority during learning process
- teachers should teach students an ideal ways of answering a question on a fresh page.
- dictionary and textbook should be used by the students whenever they are reading for examination for correct spellings.
- parents should organize extra lessons for their children to support the schools effort.
