This was another popular question and the candidates demonstrated good knowledge of the economic and social importance of blacksmithing in Nigeria.
The good candidates discussed the following points:
(i) blacksmithing was a profession and means of livelihood for many people;
(ii)
there were traders who bought iron products from blacksmiths and sold them to the public;
(iii)
iron bars and bracelets made by blacksmiths were used as currency;
(iv)
most ethnic groups had a patron deity for blacksmithing;
(v)
the workshop of blacksmith was a revered place where people went to swear an oath;
(vi)
iron products were used for entertainment e.g. gongs, bells, etc.
