Candidate's Weakness

The weaknesses of the candidates as noted in the Chief Examiner’s report were in the following areas:

(1) inability to spell words properly;

(2) poor knowledge of set texts; and

(3) poor knowledge of the Ibibio phonology.

Suggested Remedies

(1) Students should learn how to spell words properly.

(2) Teachers should ensure that they read the set texts with the students.

(3) Teachers should always give the students enough exercises on spellings and written compositions.

(4) Teachers should also expose the students to the approved Ibibio orthography
