CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESS
|
Candidates’ weaknesses were observed in these areas:
- Content – Most candidates were unable to write up to the required number of pages and words. i.e. 2½ pages and 300 words respectively.
- Some candidates that attempted letter writing used Igbo in writing their addresses which should not be so. They failed to put the date, while some put their surnames at the closing.
- Lack of in-depth knowledge of the Language – Some candidates could not explain the terms given to them. This showed that they lacked good knowledge of the language.
- Literature Texts – Some candidates found it difficult to answer questions on the literature texts. This simply attested to the fact that they did not read the prescribed texts.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES
- Candidates should always practise essay writing at their leisure.
- Candidates should procure the recommended texts for Literature to facilitate their preparation for subsequent examinations.
- Candidates should equip themselves by treating past question papers to ensure better performance.
