Candidates' Weakness

The candidates’ weaknesses among others included the following:

  1. Avoidance of questions which were historical in nature
  2. Wrong style of transliteration.
  3. Poor understanding and mis-interpretation of questions which led to writing of irrelevancies.
  4. Poor expression in English Language which reflected in their translation especially in questions 4 (four) and 6 (six).

In view of the above listed weaknesses, it is suggested that the historical aspect of Islamic Studies should be given the adequate attention it  deserves by a way of comprehensive teaching with emphasis on relevant dates, names and places.  Not only that, the standard style of transliteration should be adopted by teachers of Islamic Studies at the level of the subject association (NATAIS) and revised continuously with the students. More so, conscious improvement on the English expression of the students should be of paramount importance to teachers of Islamic Studies.
