This was a compulsory question answered by the majority of the candidates. Many of these candidates did not do well on this question because they wrote on the standardization of the Qur’an which came much later after the death of the Prophet (S.A.W.). Meanwhile, the early days of Islam ended at the death of the Prophet in 632 C.E. Major points which the candidates failed to give include the Prophet’s encouragement of his companions to write the verses on various objects and materials, the prophet’s recitation of the verses in daily obligatory prayers and the existence of the verses in the hearts of the Huff?z.
