This question was attempted by most of the candidates, most of whom performed above average. The question required the candidates to define fatliquoring, list protective wears used in a tannery and a leather goods workshop and to state four advantages of fatliquoring in the (a),(b) and (c) parts of the question. Most candidates were able to define fatliquoring and list the protective wears used in leather goods workshop but many could state the advantages of fatliquoring. This made few of them score below average marks.

The candidates were expected to provide the following answers to score higher marks.

(a)Fatliquoring is a process of introducing oil into leather following tannage in such a manner that oil dispersed into the individual fibres of the leather are uniformly coated.
