As usual, candidates were weak in poetry and questions on style
because they lacked the skills of adequate expression. The
majority of candidates answered out of context.
Suggested Remedies
(1) The government and other stakeholders in education should
organize periodic seminars to train and re-train teachers of
Literature.
(2) Students should be encouraged to always read very well.
(3) Qualified English teachers should be employed to teach Literature
and students should be discouraged from relying on abridged texts
for study purposes.
Efforts should be Intensified to provide prescribed textbooks in
schools and candidates should be encouraged to read them under
the guidance of competent teachers. |
