• Heathcliff’s unforgiving spirit leads to his scheming for vengeance on most of the characters in the novel.
• Significance of Heathcliff’s character: Heathcliff is the embodiment of cruelty and divisiveness. His character also advances the plot. His character reveals the dangers of obsessive love.
• Lessons: the dangers of vindictiveness and the dangers of vengefulness.
