Weakness/Remedies
Under the Non-African Prose section, the candidates’ performance was poor; many candidates generalized their answers out of context while others merely narrated the story line in the texts.
(3) Suggested Remedies
(1) The schools, government and parents should encourage the students to
read by providing the prescribed texts in the libraries.
(2) Training programmes such as seminars and workshops should be
organized by stakeholders in education to train and retrain teachers of
Literature-In-English.
(3) Extra curricular activities that could promote reading culture among the
students should be encouraged in schools.
