Observation

The poem deals with ravages of war through the use of exaggeration to paint the picture of suffering.  Only a few candidates were able to correctly attempt this question. It has become a trend that candidates do not fare well in poetry questions.

Candidates were expected to:

• Define the term hyperbole
• Explicate the term and support their answers with textual references.

Candidates’ performance in the question was fair.
